It was here that he began to develop his musical talents, learning to play the piano and forming his first band, The Hectics. In 1964, Freddie and his family fled the Zanzibar Revolution, relocating to England. He continued his education at Isleworth Polytechnic and later at Ealing Art College, where he earned a degree in graphic art and design.
